Apple Inc. decreased 0.7% to $207.57 despite the smartphone maker reporting a 9% rise in net income in the June quarter.
Revenue in the fiscal third quarter increased 9.6% to $94 billion from $85.8 billion, net income climbed to $23.4 billion from $21.4 billion, and diluted earnings per share rose to $1.57 from $1.40 a year ago.
For the nine-month period, revenue advanced to $313.7 billion from $296.1 billion, net income soared to $84.5 billion from $79 billion, and diluted earnings per share edged higher to $5.62 from $5.11 a year ago.
Cash flow from operating activities declined to $81.2 billion from $91.4 billion a year earlier.
The company executed share repurchases totaling $70,579 of its Class A common stock and returned $11.6 billion to shareholders.
The company's board declared a cash dividend of 26 cents per share, payable on August 14 to shareholders on record on August 11.

Apple Inc. declined 3.8% to $205.25 despite the smartphone maker reporting higher sales and earnings in the second quarter.
Sales jumped to $95.36 billion from $90.75 billion, net income climbed to $24.78 billion from $23.64 billion, and diluted earnings per share rose to $1.65 from $1.53 a year ago.
Sales increased in all geographic regions except in Greater China, where sales eased to $16.0 billion from $16.37 billion a year earlier.
All product categories registered higher sales except for wearables, home, and accessories, where sales declined to $7.52 billion from $7.91 billion a year ago.
The company proposed a cash dividend of 26 cents per share, an increase of 4%, payable on May 15 to shareholders on record as of May 12.

Net sales in Greater China declined to $18.5 billion from $20.8 billion a year earlier, while sales in the other regions advanced.

Apple spent $30 billion on dividends and share repurchases during the first quarter and now plans to pay a dividend of 25 cents per share.

Revenue in the fiscal fourth quarter ending in September increased 6% to $94.9 billion from $89.5 billion, net income fell to $14.7 billion from $22.95 billion, and diluted earnings per share dropped to 97 cents from $1.46 a year ago.
Net sales in Americas increased to $41.7 billion from $40.1 billion, in Europe jumped to $24.9 billion from $22.4 billion, and in Greater China edged down to $15.03 billion from $15.08 billion, a year ago, respectively.
iPhone sales surged to $46.2 billion from $43.8 billion, Mac sales rose to $7.6 billion from $7.6 billion, and services revenue increased to $24.9 billion from $22.3 billion a year ago, respectively.
