• Amazon Inc. gained 3.9% to $234.11 after the online retailer and marketplace operator reported a 13% jump in revenue and a 35% rise in net income in the second quarter.

    Consolidated revenue in the June quarter increased 13% to $167.7 billion from $148 billion, net income jumped to $18.2 billion from $13.5 billion, and diluted earnings per share rose to $1.68 from $1.26 a year ago.

    For the fiscal year 2025, revenue advanced to $323.4 billion from $291.3 billion, net income soared to $35.3 billion from $23.9 billion, and diluted earnings per share edged higher to $3.27 from $2.24 a year ago.

    Operating income increased 30.6% to $19.2 billion from $14.7 billion, operating expense expanded 11.4% to $148.5 billion from $133.3 billion, operating cash flow climbed 12% to $121.1 billion from $108.0 billion, and free cash flow decreased 65.7% to $18.2 billion from $53.0 billion a year ago.

    The company guided third-quarter net sales between $174.0 billion and $179.5 billion, compared to $167.7 billion, and operating income between $15.5 billion and $20.5 billion, compared to $17.4 billion a quarter earlier, respectively.

    This guidance anticipates a favorable impact of approximately 130 basis points from foreign exchange rates.

  • Amazon.com Inc. declined 3.2% to $184.10 after the e-commerce retailer reported first-quarter 2025 results.

    Net sales edged up to $155.67 billion from $143.31 billion, net income surged to $17.13 billion from $10.43 billion, and diluted earnings per share rose to $1.59 from 98 cents a year ago.

    Free cash flow decreased to $25.9 billion for the trailing twelve months, compared with $50.1 billion for the trailing twelve months ended March 31, 2024.

    “We launched Amazon.ie in Ireland, offering over 200 million products with low prices, fast delivery, and local prime membership,” the company said in a release to investors.

    Amazon guided second-quarter net sales to grow between 7% and 11% to between $159.0 billion and $164.0 billion from $148.0 billion a year ago, and operating income to be between $13.0 billion and $17.5 billion, compared to $14.7 billion in the same quarter in 2024.

  • Amazon.com Inc. dropped 2.9% to $231.98 after the company posted fourth-quarter sales, and sales growth outlook disappointed some investors.

    Net sales increased to $187.79 billion from $169.96 billion, net income surged to $20.0 billion from $10.6 billion, and earnings per diluted share rose to $1.86 from $1.00 a year ago.

    For the first quarter of 2025, the company estimated net sales growth of 5% to 9% to a range of $151.0 billion to $155.5 billion.

    Operating income is expected to be between $14.0 billion and $18.0 billion, compared to $15.3 billion in the first quarter last year.

    Amazon said it plans to boost capital expenditures to $100 billion in 2025, compared to $83 billion last year, as it continues to make investments in artificial intelligence.

    The company faces increased competition from rivals, including OpenAI and Google.

  • Amazon.com Inc. increased 7% to $199.22 after the online store and services provider reported higher earnings and revenue, driven by a 19% increase in sales for its cloud services. 

    Net sales in the third quarter increased 11% to $158.9 billion from $143.1 billion, net income advanced to $15.3 billion from $9.9 billion, and diluted earnings per share rose to $.43 from 94 cents a year ago. 

    North America segment sales increased 9% to $95.5 billion, international segment sales increased 12% to $35.9 billion, and AWS segment sales increased 19% to $27.5 billion, from a year ago, respectively.   

    The company estimated fourth quarter sales between $181.5 billion and $188.5 billion, an increase between 7% and 11% from a year ago. 

    Operating income is estimated to range between $16.0 billion and $20.0 billion, an increase from $13.2 billion a year ago.

    Revenue in second quarter increased 10% to $148 billion from $134.4 billion, net income rose to $13.5 billion from $6.7 billion, and diluted earnings per share advanced to $1.26 from 65 cents a year ago.
