Costco Wholesale Corp. extended its two-day gain to 5% and rose to $919.71 after the company's December sales rose.
U.S. core comparable store sales rose 6.3% in December, on top of 9.8% in the month a year ago, indicating solid performance over two years despite the tough comparison.

Costco Wholesale Corp. eased 0.4% to $1,004.99 despite the wholesale retailer reporting strong results for the fiscal third quarter of 2025.
Revenue increased to $63.20 billion from $58.51 billion, net income jumped to $1.90 billion from $1.68 billion, and diluted earnings per share rose to $4.28 from $3.78 a year ago.
Comparable sales edged up 5.7% in the quarter, and e-commerce sales surged 14.8%.
Excluding the impacts from changes in gasoline prices and foreign exchange, comparable sales increased 8%, and e-commerce sales were up 15.7%.

Costco Wholesale Corp. gained 0.2% to $1,007.15 after the wholesale retailer reported sales results for the 35 weeks ending in May.
Net sales increased 8.2% to $180.05 billion from $166.44 billion a year ago, as comparable store sales edged up 5.9% for the first 35 weeks.
Total comparable store sales climbed 4.4% in April, of which U.S. sales were up 5.2%, sales in Canada jumped 1.5%, and sales in the other international segment rose 3.2%.
E-commerce sales increased 12.6% in April and 16.3% for the 35-week period.

Burlington Stores Inc. gained 0.6% to $259.25 after the off-price apparel and accessories retailer reported sales growth in the fiscal fourth quarter of 2024.
Revenue increased to $3.28 billion from $3.12 billion, net income jumped to $260.77 million from $227.46 million, and earnings per diluted share rose to $4.02 from $3.53 a year ago.
Fourth-quarter comparable store sales grew 6% versus guidance of zero to 2%.
The company guided for the first quarter of 2025 total sales growth between 5% and 7%, assuming flat comparable store sales, compared to $2.36 billion in the same quarter in 2024.
Adjusted earnings per share are expected to be between $1.30 and $1.45, compared to $1.35 per share last year.
Burlington said revenue in the full year is expected to increase between 6% and 8%, assuming comparable store sales would increase between zero and 2%, compared to $10.62 billion in 2024.
Adjusted earnings per share for the full year are expected to be between $8.70 and $9.30, compared to $8.17 per share a year ago.
