• Dollar Tree jumped 13% to $108.18 after the deep-discount retailer reported fiscal first-quarter results ending on May 2. 

    The company reiterated its current quarter and full-year sales estimates. 

    Net revenues increased 7.2% to $5 billion from $4.6 billion, net income increased to $347.3 million from $343.4 million, and diluted earnings per share rose to $1.76 from $1.61 a year ago. 

    The company expects net sales from continuing operations for the second quarter to range from $4.8 billion to $4.9 billion, based on comparable store net sales growth in the range of 2.5% to 3.5%. 

    The company guided full-year 2026 sales to fall between $20.5 billion and $20.7 billion and adjusted diluted earnings per share between $6.70 and $7.10.

  • Dollar Tree Inc. dropped 9% to $100.23 after the discount retailer reported a 42% rise in net income in the latest quarter, but the company's outlook disappointed and fell short of expectations.

    Same-store sales increased 6.5% in the quarter, driven by a 3% increase in traffic and a 3.4% rise in ticket size. 

    Consolidated revenue jumped 12.3% to $4.6 billion from $4.1 billion, net income climbed to $188.4 million from $132.4 million, and diluted earnings per share soared to 75 cents from 66 cents a year ago.

    During the fiscal second quarter, Dollar Tree returned a total of $572.4 million to shareholders through share repurchases, including the repurchase of 5.6 million shares of common stock. 

    The retailer estimated fiscal third quarter adjusted diluted earnings per share will be similar to a quarter a year ago. 

    Dollar Tree raised its full-year revenue estimate to a new range between $19.3 billion and $19.5 billion and adjusted diluted earnings per share from continuing operations to between $5.32 and $5.72.

    The retailer cautioned that its guidance is based on stable tariffs for the balance of the fiscal year, and the company will be able to mitigate "most of the incremental margin pressure from higher tariffs and other input costs."

    In the second quarter, the company opened 106 new stores.

  • Dollar Tree Inc. eased 2.3% to $94.48 after the discount retailer reported fiscal first quarter 2025 results and issued a cautious outlook.

    Net sales in the quarter ending on May  3 climbed to $4.64 billion from $4.16 billion, net income edged up to $343.4 million from $300.1 million, and diluted earnings per share from continuing operations rose to $1.47 from $1.23 a year ago.

    Diluted earnings per share from discontinued operations inched down to 14 cents from 15 cents a year earlier.

    Same-store sales increased 5.4% in the quarter, with traffic up 2.5% and average ticket size up 2.8%.

    The company estimated full-year net sales to range between $18.5 billion and $19.1 billion, compared to $17.6 billion a year earlier, and comparable store sales to increase between 3% and 5%.

    Dollar Tree also expects full-year adjusted diluted earnings per share from continuing operations to be between $5.15 and $5.65, compared to $4.83 a year ago.

    Dollar Tree expanded its operations, opening 148 new stores during the first quarter.

    During the second quarter, the company is expected to sell its Family Dollar business to Brigade and Macellum for $1.007 billion.

    “We expect second-quarter adjusted EPS from continuing operations could be down as much as 45% to 50% year-over-year before re-accelerating in the third and fourth quarters to meet our full-year earnings outlook,” the company said in a release to investors.

    Second-quarter comparable sales growth will be towards the higher end of the full-year outlook range of 3% to 5%, the company added in the statement.

  • Dollar Tree Inc. eased 0.30% to $69.00 after the deep discount store retailer reported results for the fiscal fourth quarter of 2024 ending in February.

    Revenue edged up to $4.99 billion from $4.96 billion, net loss widened to $3.69 billion from a loss of $1.71 billion, and diluted loss per share increased to $17.17 from a loss of $7.83 a year ago.

    Same-store net sales in the quarter advanced 2% on 0.7% traffic and 1.3% ticket.

    The company agreed to sell its Family Dollar business to Brigade and Macellum for $1.01 billion.

    The discount retailer guided for the first quarter of 2025 net sales to be between $4.5 billion and $4.6 billion, compared to $7.63 billion in 2024, and adjusted earnings per share from continuing operations between $1.10 and $1.25, compared to $1.38 a year ago.

    For the full year, Dollar Tree estimated net sales to be between $18.5 billion and $19.1 billion, compared to $17.58 billion in 2024, and adjusted earnings per share from continuing operations between $5.00 and $5.50, compared to $4.83 in 2024.

    Comparable store net sales are expected to grow in the range of 3% to 5% both in the first quarter and the full year 2025.

  • Dollar Tree Inc dropped 12.5% to $135.50 after the deep discount retailer reported mixed quarterly results. 

    Consolidated net sales increased 6.1% to $7.32 billion, driven by companywide same store sales increase of 4.8%. 

    Dollar Tree same store sales increased 3.4%, driven by a 5.5% increase in traffic, partially offset by a 2.1% decline in average ticket. 

    Family Dollar’s 6.6% same store sales increase comprised of a 4.3% increase in traffic along with a 2.2% increase in average ticket.

    Companywide net sales increased to $7.3 billion from $6.9 billion and net income declined to $299 million from $536.4 million and diluted earnings per share fell to $1.35 from $2.37 a year ago. 

    In the quarter, the company repurchased 1.025 million shares for $151.1 million. 

    The retailer guided full-year sales between $30 billion and $40.5 billion, driven by low- to mid-single-digit comparable same store sales. 

    The company guided second quarter sales between $7.0 billion and $7.2 billion and same store sales to increase in mid-single-digit sales and earnings per share between 79 cents and 89 cents.
