• Duolingo decreased 1.5% to $108.75 after the language-learning mobile app operator reported better-than-expected quarterly results.

    Revenue increased 27% to $292.0 million, and total bookings jumped 14% to $308.5 million from a year ago, respectively.

    The company reported 133.1 million monthly active users last quarter, sharply lower than the 145 million estimated by analysts on Wall Street.

    Net income increased to $43.5 million from $35.1 million, and diluted earnings per share advanced to 89 cents from 72 cents a year ago.

  • Duolingo Inc. surged 1.7% to $299.18 after the language learning platform operator reported higher revenue in the fourth quarter of 2024.

    Revenue jumped 39% to $209.6 million from $151.0 million, and net income edged up 15% to $13.9 million from $12.1 million a year ago.

    During the quarter, subscription bookings surged 50% to $236.5 from $157.8 million, and total bookings rose 42% to $271.6 million from $191.0 million a year earlier.

    Adjusted EBITDA increased 49% to $52.3 million from $35.2 million, and free cash flow surged 84% to $87.8 million from $47.7 million in the same quarter in 2023.

    The number of daily active users in the quarter surged 51% to 40.5 million from 26.9 million, and the monthly active users edged up 32% to 116.7 million from 88.4 million a year ago.

    The company guided for the first quarter of 2025 revenue to be between $220.5 million and $223.5 million, up from $167.6 million a year ago, and bookings between $252 million and $255 million, compared to $197.5 million in the same period in 2024.

    For the full year, Duolingo estimated revenue to be between $962.5 million and $978.5 million, up from $748.0 million in 2024, and bookings between $1.08 billion and $1.10 billion, compared to $870.6 million last year.

  • Duolingo Inc. plunged 7.4% to $348.02 despite the language learning platform operator reporting higher earnings for the fourth quarter of 2024.

    Revenue increased 39% to $209.55 million from $150.98 million, and net and comprehensive income jumped 15% to $13.91 million from $12.12 million a year ago.

    The monthly active users’ ratio advanced 32% to 116.7 million from 88.4 million, and paid subscribers amounted to 9.5 million, up 43% from 6.6 million a year ago.

    The company introduced Video Call, a real-time conversation feature, and now aims to make it powered by an artificial intelligence conversation partner to further differentiate Duolingo Max as a premium offering.

  • Duolingo soared 20.1% to $235.56 after the language  learning platform estimated strong revenue guidance in the fiscal first quarter and full-year after posting better-than-expected fourth-quarter results. 

    Total revenue in the fourth quarter increased 45% to $151 million from $103 million, net income swung to $12.1 million from a loss of $13.9 million, and diluted earnings per share were 29 cents compared to a loss of 35 cents a year ago.  

    Cash flow from operating activities was $49.2 million compared to $11.6 million in the prior year quarter, and free cash flow was $47.7 million compared to $11.3 million in the prior year quarter. 

    Total bookings increased 51% from a year ago to $191 million, and paid subscribers surged 57% to 6.6 million at the end of the quarter.
