  • Expedia Inc. plunged 7.4% to $156.50 after the travel technology company released first-quarter 2025 results.

    Revenue edged up to $2.99 billion from $2.89 billion, net loss widened to $200 million from a loss of $135 million, and diluted loss per share expanded to $1.56 from a loss of 99 cents a year ago.

    The company repurchased approximately 1.7 million shares for $330 million during the quarter and paid a quarterly dividend of 40 cents per share on March 27.

    “We posted first quarter bookings and revenue within our guidance range despite weaker than expected demand in the US,” the company said in a release to investors.

    The number of booked room nights increased 6% in the quarter to 107.7 million from 101.2 million a year earlier.

    Expedia guided second-quarter and full-year gross bookings to increase between 2% and 4% from a year ago, and the company also expects second-quarter revenue to grow between 3% and 5% and full-year revenue to increase by 2% to 4% from the same period in 2024.

  • Expedia Inc. surged 10.6% to $190.80 after the travel technology company reported a 13% increase in gross bookings during the fourth quarter ending in December.

    Revenue increased 10% to $3.18 billion from $2.89 billion, net income climbed 124% to $299 million from $132 million, and earnings per diluted share jumped 139% to $2.20 from 92 cents a year ago.

    The company proposed a first quarter dividend of 40 cents per share, payable on March 27 to holders of record on March 6.

    Expedia expects 2025 gross bookings and revenue growth of 4% to 6%.

    Travel demand has remained steady in Asia Pacific, aided by the lifting of some visa restrictions in the region, as well as in Europe.

  • Expedia Group Inc soared 7.5% to $95.87 after the online travel booking platform reported record first quarter revenue and gross bookings soared 20%. 

    Revenue in the first quarter increased 18% to a record $2.7 billion from $2.3 billion and net loss increased 18% to $145 million from $122 million and diluted loss per share expanded to 95 cents from 78 cents a year ago. 

    Total gross bookings increased 20% to $29.4 billion and lodging bookings at $21.1 billion were at record levels. Booked room nights jumped 23% to 94.5 million from 77.0 million a year ago.
