Lyft jumped 26% to $18.23 after the company reported its quarterly results and issued a stronger than-expected outlook.
Revenue in the third quarter increased to $1.5 billion from $1.15 billion, net loss expanded to $12.5 billion from $12.1 billion, and diluted earnings per share were unchanged at 3 cents per share.
Gross booking rose 16% to $4.1 billion from $3.55 billion, and active riders increased to 24.4 million from 22.4 million a year ago, respectively.
The ride-hailing company is now forecasting fourth quarter bookings of $4.28 billion and $4.32 billion, an increase between 15% and 17% from a year ago. The company also estimated adjusted operating earnings between $100 and $105 million in the next quarter.
For the full-year 2024, the company estimated annual booking growth of 17% and annual number of rides growth in the mid-teens.

Lyft Inc. soared 20% to $14.56 after the ridesharing company reported fourth-quarter results.
Revenue in the quarter increased to $1.22 billion from $1.18 billion, and net losses shrank to $26.3 million from $588.1 million.
Gross bookings on the platform rose to $3.7 billion from $3.2 billion. Active riders increased 10% to 22.4 million from 20.4 million, and rides surged to 190.8 million from 151.1 million a year ago.
The company estimated gross booking in the first quarter between $3.5 billion and $3.6 billion and adjusted operating earnings between $50 million and $55 million.

Lyft declined 3.3% to $10.30 after the digital ride hailing company reported weaker-than-expected quarterly results and guided that weak bookings are expected to persist in the current quarter.
Revenue in the third quarter increased to $1.15 billion from $1.05 billion, net loss shrank to $12.1 million from $422.2 million, and diluted loss per share dropped to 3 cents from $1.18 a year ago.
Active riders increased to 22.4 million from 20.3 million, and revenue per active rider edged slightly lower to $51.67 from $51.88 a year ago.
The rebound in travel was reflected in the gross bookings for the ride services during the quarter.
Gross bookings jumped to $3.55 billion from $3.08 billion, and the company offered bookings to range between $3.6 billion and $3.7 billion in the fourth quarter.
The company lowered its growth outlook in the current quarter to grow in "mid-single-digits" from the previous quarter, and as a percentage of revenue, the fourth quarter adjusted EBITDA margin will be "roughly in line" with the 4% achieved in the second quarter.

Lyft Inc declined 6.9% to $10.76 after the ride-hailing company released its quarterly results.
Stock jumped after the company reported adjusted earnings per share of 16 cents and revenue of $1.02 billion, meeting estimates set by some analysts.
But the stock turned lower after investors reassessed the company's fiscal fourth quarter revenue outlook which fell short of some analysts' estimates.
Revenue increased 3% to $1.02 billion from $990.7 million and net loss shrank to $114.2 million from $377.2 million and diluted loss per share fell to 30 cents from $1.08 a year ago.
Active riders in the second quarter rose 8.2% to 21.5 million from 19.9 million and average revenue per active rider fell 4.8% to $47.51 from $49.89 a year ago.

Lyft Inc plunged 13.9% to $9.20 after the ride-hailing company reported a larger-than-expected loss despite healthy demand for its services.
Revenue in the first quarter increased 14% to $1.0 billion and net loss in the quarter shrank to $187.6 million from $196.9 million and diluted loss per share fell to 50 cents from 57 cents a year ago.
Active riders in the first quarter increased 9.8% to 19.55 million from 17.8 million and revenue per active rider increased 4% to $51.17.
